I have found a whole lot of websites lately that exist solely to provide avenues for us to relieve mental stress. They serve as robotic shrinks, not only giving you and I a little “couch” to lay down and vent on, but also a place organize our goals, make lists of things we wish to accomplish, places we want to go and even shout out our grandest fears and most embarrassing secrets at the top of our lungs anonymously.
My 2 favorite of these sites are as follows:
43 things- A website where one makes a list of up to 43 different hopes, dreams and goals and tracks the progress along the way. You can connect with people that have similar ambitions in life or help others with goals you have already accomplished. The web site sends emails every so many weeks from your former self to your future self to remind you of the things you are striving to do and keep you encouraged. This is also connected to 43 places where you can keep track of the locations you have traveled to and the places you plan on visiting. People review different cities and attractions and it is user friendly as well as very easy to get advice on where to go and what to do at the destination of your choice.
Post Secret- Not only is it a series of books chalk full of incredibly honest, sometimes alarming and/or disturbing poignant (and anonymous) post cards sent in by people all over the world who just have to get their darkest secret off their chests. But, is now an online oasis doing more of the very same. People can email in responses to the postcards displayed on the site with similar thoughts or issues. It is a sort of modern day confessional and has proved to truly help many a tortured soul be able to put experiences and memories they would never feel comfortable discussing with friends, behind them.
